Obituary of Joan V. Snyder

Batavia /Alabama - Joan V. Snyder, 84, of Batavia (formerly of Alabama), passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at New York State Veteran's Home, in Batavia. Joan was born October 12, 1932 in Alabama, NY, the daughter of the late Clifford and Mildred (Kreckman) Bradt. She attended the Alabama Country School and graduated in 1950 from Oakfield-Alabama High School. After graduation, she attended RBI in Batavia, and spent most of her working years at Peterson Drug Co. where she was employed in the office. She was a member of the Alabama & Basom United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Society and played organ and piano for many years. She helped implement the Jolly Senior Group and helped coordinate monthly activities for that group. She is survived by her husband, Lester L. Snyder, whom she married on May 9, 1954; 3 sons, Kevin (Jackie) Snyder of Lockport, Terry (Nancy) Snyder of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Craig (Debbie) Snyder of Henrietta; a brother, David (Barbara) Bradt of Salt Lake City, UT; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alabama & Basom United Methodist Church, where services will follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alabama & Basom United Methodist Church, 1392 Church Street, Alabama, NY 14003. Burial will be in Alabama Cemetery in Alabama. Arrangements were completed by Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Ave. Oakfield.
