Nancy, Mike, and family. I am just seeing this now as my Mom recently passed. Our condolences to you both and your families. I had your Mom for French Class and I loved the way she taught ! You could tell she was so exuberant about teaching the subject matter and that made me enjoy it even more. I would see your Mom at the Annual Oakfield Alumni Dinner in Batavia and we would chat every time. I remember singing my heart out on Sundays as your parents led the music part of the congregation each week. In addition, I remember going over to your home and playing as friends now and then. I can relate to your distress w/ this Covid time in our lives and I see you just recently had your service. So did we. With Mom's Celebration of Life to be at a later date. I enjoyed the posted video so much and wish you and your families peace and blessings. Our Moms and Dads are together again and in the arms of our Lord. Love, Lori Weidner

Memorial Tribute:
She was a great lady and a great teacher! Some of the most memorable periods in my life came from her - my first trip to Quebec and, the most memorable of all, our great trip to France, including Monaco, Nice, the French Riviera, the wine region, Avignon and Paris!! She was also a great organist and choir director at St. Cecilia's' Church where I sang in many of her choirs as well as doing many weddings and other events with her and her late husband...My thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family at this most difficult time...God speed Mrs. Mead!!!

Although I did not personally know Rose, I remember my mother, Helen Freitag, speaking of her often. They taught together at Oakfield School. They are likely together now sharing stories of their mischievous student’s —Martha Freitas Lansberry

Rose Marie and I grew up just down the street from each other and were in the same classes in school. We had some great talks walking to school and back. Rose was one of the nicest people I know. In spite of losing touch in our later years, I still remember her fondly. My sincerest sympathy to her family.

I had many pleasant conversations with Rose..We met through our mutual teaching profession, High School French teachers. She was always pleasant, low key and smiling. Thanks for keeping the flame and love of language burning. Carl DeLuca

As another French teacher at nearby Elba Central, Rose and I shared several student trips to Quebec City. I always had the greatest admiration for her. She was well-organized, energetic, obviously loved and respected by her students, and just a pleasure to be with. I also know of her devotion to her faith, and her involvement as an organist at St. Cecilia's Church. I know personally that she started most of her school days at early morning mass. After her retirement from teaching, she maintained an interest in the profession, and I often sent her copies of the latest Regents exam so she could keep up with the current testing techniques and help any students she tutored. When I was also retired, I met Rose regularly at the Genesee County Retired Teachers Group. Rose lived a very full life and gave her best to everything she touched. She was an inspiration to me and to many. May she now rest in peace and receive the reward of her labors. Lorraine Rybak (formerly of Batavia, NY, now living in Williamsville, NY)

Nancy,
Mrs Mead was a staple in the Oakfield community. I loved going up in choir loft when I was little after mass and riding my bike by her house and seeing her smile! It’s pretty amazing I got to work with you in Pittsford All those years later. You will be missed by all Mrs Mead. All of us in Oakfield and especially those at church will always keep you in our hearts.
Love

Nancy, I will always remember the many stories you told of your mom either at work or at one of our after work chats. I loved your smile and laughter as you shared her antics and relationships with friends and family. I remember you describing her as spunky and independent ❤️. Thank you for sharing her with me and so many! Love to you and your family at this time.
